Dear Falcons Families!

REGISTRATION FOR 2023 TACKLE FOOTBALL IS NOW OPEN!

I also wanted to bring you up to speed with a few things going on at the club.

Every year, we strive to keep our fees as low as possible and each family is also required to participate in fundraising projects as part of their membership.  Due to rising costs, we have had to adjust our fees this year, but we have measured ourselves to other clubs in the city and ours are still on the lower end of the average.

Our fees include use of most of the equipment (helmet, shoulder pads, game and practice pants and jerseys).  If required, we will also find cleats for players who can’t afford them.

There are subsidy programs available to families (Jumpstart and KidSport) which we will help you apply for, and this year, we have included a PAYMENT PLAN option when you register before May 12th online.  More details on the fees are available on our website as well.

-              The Falcons have our first ever team in the Senior (born 2005 to 2008) Manitoba Girls Football League (MGFA) this year.  We have partnered with the Sagkeeng First Nation once again to field a team.  The season runs May and June and practices start soon.  Registration is still open online for this team.

-              Last year, we participated in the Rural Manitoba Football League (RMFL) with an exhibition team of 15- to 18-year-olds.  Our team travelled 3 times during the season and as far away as Dauphin, MB.  We anticipate that we will be invited to join the league at the upcoming AGM (April 18th) and will confirm back to everyone when the decision is made.  We already have had a number of players confirmed from the Sagkeeng First Nation again and anticipate a sizeable roster this year.

Once we get the official word on our membership, we will be setting up an PAYMENT PLAN for the RMFL as well.

-              We will be holding our TRY FOOTBALL events again this year but we are going to hold events at multiple facilities in our catchment during May as well as at our own field during the official registration weekend on May 5th, 6th and 7th Sign up online will be available soon.

-              We are embarking on a project to install field lights and a permanent scoreboard on our site. Once the scoreboard is up, we will have sponsorship space available as well.  Our grants to the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg have been approved for $312,000.00, but we are still waiting for Federal funding to make up the balance ($106,000.00).  If you would like to be part of the committee to manage either of these projects, please let us know.

-              We desperately need to purchase a new tractor to cut the grass on our fields.  Our lease with the City of Winnipeg requires us to maintain the fields throughout the year and our current 2nd hand small yard tractor is on its last legs.  We estimate this will cost us between $15,000 and $20,000 for a good Commercial mower so if you have any connections or resources to help us get the best price possible, please let us know.  We will also have to look at placing a container on the property to store the new mower at a cost of ~$4,000.00.

Hopefully, you found this information useful and we hope to see you all at the Club again in 2023.
